Brainware University was established by the Act XXXI of 2015 of the Government of West Bengal. It has been approved as a private unitary university status by the Government of West Bengal and runs under the Sabita Devi Education Trust. Sprawling over a large eco-friendly campus at Barasat, in the district of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, it is just 15 kms away from the capital city, Kolkata.

As a hub of scholastic enhancement, Brainware University commits entirely to the students’ cause – their welfare and furtherance take priority here.

 The University is based on a strong foundation of modern infrastructure, skilled faculty, active learning processes and penchant for scholarly research works. The University actively encourages a culture of openness to help students gain mastery over his/her discipline, develop their vision, attitude and aptitude, upgrade his/her knowledge and skills, instil a sense of competitiveness, as well as allow the cultivation of creativity. Its aim is not just to create scholars, but good human beings.

  • Campus: It is a 9-acre campus which is entirely dedicated to catering a holistic learning experience to the students. It is a milestone initiative of the Brainware Group that established as one of the leading private universities in West Bengal, educating scholars and future professionals in 85 academic programmes.
  • Library: With an extensive cataloguing and written document of records, students are provided a vast index to make their choices from. Students are permitted to keep a maximum of 3 books for a period of 15 days at a stretch, depending upon the availability of the books.
  • Hostel: It has an on campus hostels for the students, where there lies a specific separation between both boys and girls. The hostels are spacious and comfortable, while the wardens are also kind and welcoming, who often go out of their way to make the students feel it as a second home.

Administration and Fee Structure

The University is recognised by the UGC where it includes with an efficient fee structure on behalf each department.


It has big cafeteria which is also a multi-cuisine canteen that offers great food at surprisingly affordable prices.

Student Culture and Activities

The University offers an exciting campus life. A variety of events such as sports, fests, tech-fests, exhibitions and cultural programmes provides a wide podium for students to develop and exhibit their talents.
